About the Artist

MARYELLEN HACKO

Maryellen's home and studio are nestled in the beautiful Northern Beaches, Australia, where she works as a fine artist and writer, and runs design studio Meld Creative Co.

Growing up, Maryellen knew she was destined to be an artist. However, a shallow understanding of "success" caused her to follow a corporate path early in her journey. Over time, anxiety and burnout transformed her life by forcing her to slow down and reconnect with her Creator, through the simple act of filling a blank page.

Trading a career in law for opportunities in television and magazine publishing early in her journey, Maryellen realised that she was destined to pursue a vocation in visual communications. Since then, she has grown a design studio from strength to strength and developed her own unique aesthetic.

These days, she meditates on colours, brush-strokes and words, integrating skills across multiple visual mediums to help others unlock the same realisation that set her free: that life is a precious gift from God, to be wholeheartedly celebrated. 

​

Drawing on inspiration from the native flora and fauna so abundant on Sydney's coastline, as well as the embodied experience of finding personal worth outside of productivity, Maryellen believes her purpose is to inspire others to slow down and practice noticing the breathtaking beauty found in the commonplace.

When she's not preparing designs for clients, you'll find her painting bright oils on canvas in her home studio, harmonising to Jacob Collier's sweet melodies, or pottering in her garden with her two pet ducks.
